Grass-Fed Beef Farm in Mato Grosso, Brazil

Background:
A grass-fed beef operation running over 800 Zebu cattle in central-west Brazil faced a different water challenge—peak drought seasons with limited natural water sources and inconsistent water quality from shallow ponds. They needed a reliable, tough watering system that could handle heavy use and provide consistently clean, cool water.

The Challenge:
During the dry season, the farm relied on distant water holes. This forced cattle to walk further, losing valuable weight and body condition. A more efficient watering system was necessary to improve daily gain and reduce stress on the herd.

Our Solution:
Multiple custom-length galvanized cattle water troughs were installed, fed by a central gravity-fed water supply. These systems were built with durability in mind, finished with hot-dip galvanization to withstand the humid tropical environment and intense UV exposure. The large capacity allowed multiple animals to drink at once, reducing wait times.

The Result:
The farm saw a marked improvement in average daily weight gain per steer during the dry season, as cattle consumed more fresh water closer to their grazing area. Time spent moving cattle to water was halved.
